Biryani

Ingredients  

  • 4 cups rice  
  • 1kg frozen vegetables  
  • 1 teaspoon curry powder  
  • 2 teaspoon salt  
  • ½ teaspoon pepper  
  • 1/3 teaspoon turmeric (optional) 

Process  

  1. Cook the vegetables in a frying pan (it is okay if they are frozen); add 2 teaspoons of salt and ½ teaspoon of pepper only. When they are fully cooked, they should be soft and easy to eat.  
  2. Wash rice till the water is semi clear, and leave it in water for 15 minutes. 
  3. Add 1L of water in a pot till it boils. 
  4. Add curry, salt and pepper to the vegetables. 
  5. Once water starts boiling, add rice.  
  6. Wait till the water is drained and the rice is ready.  
  7. Once the rice is fully cooked, mix it with the vegetables.   

Tips

  • Any frozen vegetables available you like is good  
  • This food is great with:  
    • Yoghurt 
    • Stew  
    • Salad
